The Sunday Cleaning Meme

It's Sunday, which means I have jobs to do and things to clean. This week, Flora is coming down from Canberra for a few days for a visit - and to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This means I have to sort out the flat ready for her arrival, as well as get the place in order ready for what may be a pretty horrific week at work, what with all the other crap that I have on in the evening.

So here we go, my what has become a normal meme with jobs, all courtesy of Sunday Stealing. This is a continuation from last week's Sunday blog.

(Job: Toilet Cleaned)

30. Do you read your horoscope?

Sometimes. I'm rather fold of Jonathan Cainer as he appears to get things right most of the time. I also hang out with a couple of astrologers who go into things with far more depth than your average newspaper article. Www.astro.com is also really good for finding stuff out on your own.

(Job: Bathroom cleaned)

31. Where was the last place you bought something?

I did my supermarket shopping this morning after the gym. Does this count?

(Job: Half the shredding down)

32. How do you feel about your hair right now?

I quite like it, but for me, it is very, very red. I'm not used to having it this red. Not that it doesn't suit me, but it's a bit more flamboyant than I normally like it. Over time it will settle down.

(Job: Put shoes away)

33. Do you bite your nails?

No, thank goodness. They're one of the nicest bits of me and I'm very glad that I don't. I can be found, now and then, to have my thumb in my mouth, but that's only few a few seconds every now and then when I'm a bit stressed - a throw back from when I sucked my thumb regularly. Thankfully, that's not the case now.

(Job: Made lunch)

34. Do you have any expensive jewellery?

Very expensive jewellery, no. But I have my mother's engagement ring. Also, in my possession, I have three near complete Pandora bracelets. I love them dearly - one was from my 40th, the other two I've collected over the years. They add up to a bit when you take it all into consideration. That's about it. I don't really wear jewellery.

(Job: More shredding)

35. Have you ever been told you speak fast?

All the time at Masons. But yes, I do speak pretty quickly. Thankfully, I speak pretty clearly as well which helps a lot.

(Job: Paperwork for the Masters done)

36. Is your laugh usually hearty?

Hearty is not the word for my laugh. The one that comes to mind most of the time is evil, bizarre, strange or scary. It's a bit of a witch's cackle and it changes depending on what I'm laughing at. Oh, it's also loud. I'm a bit terrible to sit next to in the cinema. I don't hold my laugh in, ever.

(Been to see Blarney and Barney)

37. How fast have you driven a car?

I've reached 100 miles an hour on the English motorways way back when you could speed on the English motorways and I had a trusty Ford Feista named Phoebe. Not sure they go that fast any more. That's about 160 kpm. That will do.

(Dhal is on the boil)

38. Have you ever smoked?

I used to be a social smoker, but I gave up about six years ago for health reasons and have never looked back. Now I can't stand having to walk through the smoker's pack standing on street corners on the way to work. Truly reformed.

(Chicken Chilli con Carne on the stove)

39. What was your favorite subject in school?

I liked school and did pretty well in most things. English and French were my favourite classes, but I also liked Maths and Chemistry in my later years. Strangely, for a lit head, Chemistry made sense.

(Dinner eaten)

40. Do you have cell phone provider loyalty?

Que? Oh, I think we call them bundles here - or do I just have one provider? Yes. Telstra all the way. Though the call centre is a pain in the bum, and if you want to have an argument, call their billing helpdesk and let fly  - but I have all my telecommunications with Telstra.

(Lunch boxed up for the next few days.)

41. What type of boy or girl do you usually fall for?

Hmm, this is a hard one. Other than tall and a bit on the wiry side, with a preference for dark or grey hair and green eyes... for personality, I go for the smart guys, the ones who are a bit different. The blokes who were card sharps and hung around pool halls at uni. The ones who travel. The blokes who are a bit left of centre. Never dated an accountant. Never will. But I've been out with a painter, an arms dealer, lots of guys in IT and a bloke who was in advertising. Eclectic mix, but they were all smart.

(Dishes washed)

42. Do you have any hidden talents?

A few. I can:

Drive a tractor
Pick locks
Do bondage planks
Use scissors with my left hand
Hold my left eye closed for a minute without effort
Untangle yarn
Cats and dogs and kids and old people adore me
I make very good birthday cakes.

That will do.

(Masons paperwork prepared)

43. Favorite Song?

This. Always has been. Always will be.

I love this too.

(Mason's bag packed)

44. Do you like to sing at all?

I sing all the time. Badly. Not quite in tune, but thems the breaks. I'm bad for ear worms and I'm bad at singing songs over and over. Love to sing. Other people, unfortunately don't like it that much.

45. Dream Job?

The new JK Rowling.

46. Where does most of your family live?

Adelaide, South Australia - about 500 miles away.

(Interview clothes set out)

47. Are you an only child or do you have siblings?

I have a younger sister and a step-sister (who's birthday it is today, happy birthday JD)

(Bag packed for work)

48. Would you consider yourself to be spoiled?

No. I've worked very hard for all I have. Saying this, sometimes my friends spoil me and that is lovely, bit it doesn't happen very often.

49. What was the first thing you thought when you woke up?

"Crap, I'm due in pump class in 30 minutes, better get cracking."

50. Do you drink?

Yes, but not very much. A bit of a gin drinker, but it's like one or two a month. I also try and drink at least two litres of water a day.

51. Know any other languages?

Yep, I'm very good at mangling French - studied that until university. I've got a smattering of Greek, Italian, Spanish and Thai under my belt. Can order beer in about 20 languages - that is very important.

52. Ever write a coded message?

I write poetry. This could be seen as coded messages. Other than this. No.

53. Have you ever been in someone else's wedding?

Yes. I was bridesmaid at Flora's wedding and MC at Bernie's wedding. That's enough.

54. Do you have any children?

No. I like children but I couldn't eat a whole one.

55. Did you take a nap today?

I would have liked to, but no.

56. Who has the same birthday as you?

Coco Chanel, Bill Clinton and the guy who invented Star Trek. I think this is a cool thing.

57. Ever met anyone famous before?

Bummed a cigarette off Jeremy Clarkson in a restaurant many years ago. That's about as famous as I do.

58. Do you want to be famous one day?

I'd love to be a famous writer one day - at least you have a bit of anonymity. Would hate to be a modern day celebrity. Would rather be famous for doing something.

59. Any Pet Peeves?

Heaps of them. A few of my favourites: Rudeness, people who can't pronounce words properly and won't use the word correctly after being corrected 20 times. People who are on the phone when at the checkout. Bananas.

60. Are you multitasking right now?

Hell yeah - I'm trying to get my week organised. I've got an interview tomorrow morning. Nearly there. Most things are set up.

Right, time for a shower and bed. Have a great week.

  2. Loved your answers. I was laughing the whole way through. Especially liked your list of hidden talents. You can untangle yarn (or anything else for that matter)...makes you have super powers in my book. I usually just throw the mess at someone else. lol
