Two beers and a puppy

Level Four Lockdown: Day Thirty-Six
Curfew. 8 p.m.
Mood: Meh -still pondering the bubble scenario
Black and White Photo Challenge: Day Seven

I put this on my facebook page earlier today - and I like it. It's how to judge a person's character.

You meet somebody. You sum them up.

Here are your two questions that have to be answered honestly:
  1. Would you have two beers with them?
  2. Would you leave your puppy with them for the weekend?

I think this is ingenious.

If the answer is no to both questions, run a mile from that person, for why would you want to hang around with them? I mean, if you can't stick around them for two beers, then why would persist with them. And if you wouldn't trust them with your puppy - well what can you trust them with? Puppies are precious cargo - there is something deep here. You know in your gut that that this person isn't to be trusted.

If you answer yes to the beers, but no to the puppy sitting - well, they might be a great person, fun to have around, but it's the dog sitting which is the deal breaker. The persons is great for an aquaintance, a colleague - sure they're fun to go out with, but again, it's the trust thing. You can trust them to watch your handbag when you go to the loo at a pub but for the bigger things, pass - or you take them up on offers when you're desperate.

There are the people who you will say no to the beers, but yes to the puppy. Nice people, great people. As boring as batshit, but they are people we need to have around. It's good to know these people exist. They are kind. Boring, a little staid, not quite your cup of tea, but very trustworthy. Your puppy will love them too, which is good.

Then the best of the lot. The person you'll have a few beers with and they will look after your puppy. Cherish these people for they are gold.

I really like this analogy.

I hope people see me as being in the last group. I will aways look after people's puppies - and kittens.... and I do drink beer.
