It's the last weekend of February, which means I'm off down the Great Ocean Road for the weekend on retreat. I get to spend a couple of days with my tribe. I've set myself a goal. Write 5000 words of my novel. They won't be great words, but I'm looking forward to having the space to be in the fresh air, with stars, and the other retreat-goers for a weekend of great company, excellent food.
Anyway, I have to think about packing. Besides the normal clothes and toiletries, there are a few things that must go in the bag.
My travel laptop and computer accoutrements.
Have you any idea how bad it is when you have forgotten your Apple Watch charger? Or a spare mouse? Or a charging cable, these must go in the laptop bag.
Meds
I do love these people, but it’s a lot calmer when you’ve got a bit of Ritalin in you. A few others have said that it’s a bit easier coming to these retreats when you’re on the med. Calms the energy down a bit. Into the bag they go.
Tarot cards
I’m debating whether to take my cards? Or do I take another set of cards that I don’t normally read from? Or my normal reading decks? I’ll think about that a bit more.
Ben’s beer
Emma and Ben are our caterers. They are amazing. But for the last few retreats Ben has plied me with beer. I need to pay Ben back. I will get Ben some beer on my way out tomorrow.
A jumper
Because you never know when you need to jumper. I’ve been caught out before.
My keep cup and coffee pods
As a drinker of decaf, I bring my own decaf pods and keep cup (and some almond milk because I feel bad about drinking a lot of the common stuff)
And a book or two
I’m currently in the middle of Margaret Atwood’s Hag-Seed. I love Margaret Atwood. But I might finish this book over the weekend and I will need another.
To be honest, I'd be happy if I hung out in pyjamas and tucked myself away and just wrote. That won't happen, but it's a nice thought.
Right, let's get this packing out the way. Bridgerton awaits.
