Photo February - Day One

The Adelphi Roof Top Pool, Flinders Lane

The walk home from work bears some treasures - and this is one of them. There is a swimming pool with a glass bottom at the Adelphi Hotel on Flinders Lane. I've been passing by this for years. I've eaten at the wonderful Ezard restaurant at the bottom of this restaurant, and been to some networking do at the bar on the hotel's roof - but it is a dream of mine to swim in this pool, floating ten storeys above the street splashing people as they walk by.

I just reckon it would be a cool thing to do.

For one month of the year I like to blog on a daily basis.

This year, that month is February.

Anybody who tends a blog knows how hard it is to blog on a daily basis. it's not easy. You run out of things to say after about day ten. It gets to be a slog. It's really not fun.

Yet the whole process requires discipline, planning and a bit of gumption. Another thing I've found that if you're writing on a subject or a photo, you've got a bit more of a chance of writing daily and comfortably.

Unfortunately, I used all of my good images last year when I did a Photo-a-Day month so I'm going to have to get a bit creative - so I'll be writing on photos taken about the place on my iPhone.

This should be interesting - or maybe not. It will give you a bit of an insight into my little world in Melbourne. All I know is that this will be a challenge.

I've been spurred on a bit by a conversation held over the long weekend. A friend of mine called me lazy.

This is probably the best way to spur me on. See, I know I'm a hard worker, and I do keep myself very busy. I make personal goals and rarely don't meet tight deadlines at work  - but there are some things that I let slide - my own writing being one of those things.

So the way I see it, the best way to prove to somebody that you're not lazy is to get out and do stuff so that they can stick it up their bums.

So today I start my own version of NaNoWri Mo (National Novel Writing Month)

I'll call it FeNoWriMo - February Novel Writing Month.

There will be a word count at the bottom of this page letting you know how this novel is coming along. At the moment I've got a 5000 start on this tome - let's see where it come to be the end of February.

Lazy my arse.

Oh, and for the month of February, this blog will officially be a Tony Abbott free zone - unless he does something particularly heinous.

FeNoWriMo Total:  5000

Sounds good. Both blog a day and Tony Abbott-free-wise.
